Okay, I admit it. When it comes to UK vs UofL, the great Lexington vs Louisville rivalry, I am all about Big Blue. The first time I ever cried over a basketball game was in Knoxville the first "dream game" many, many years ago. But hey, if you remember even then Governor John Y. Brown wore an outrageous sports coat half UK blue and half UofL red. I may bleed blue, but my heart is all about Kentucky, and that includes those wiley Cardinals coached by a familiar character, Rick Pitino.
Some Pre-Season Ranking
of Louisville KY Cardinals
According to a release by the Louisville Cards Athletics Department, the Birds are ranked in the top ten by three prognosticators. CBSSports.com, has the Cards in second. Espn.com puts them in fifth place. Foxsports.com has our feathered friends at sixth post....err I mean ranked sixth. (SMILES)
The Cardinals teammates
Returning to the Cardinals roost this season includes players forward senior Terrance Williams, senior guard Andre McGee, junior guard/forward Earl Clark and junior guard Jerry Smith. Eight new players will be added to the roster, with most of the buzz going to Samardo Samuels. A forward/center, Samuels was named the 2008 USA Today Player of the Year.
As long as those Cards aren't playing The Big Blue, I'll be shouting "Go Cards!" because after all, when it comes to basketball it's all about all of the Commonwealth...including our rivals in Louisville.
